Northside family,
You are likely aware that Springfield has adopted a mask ordinance to go into effect Thursday morning. You may also be aware that Northside is located outside of Springfield city limits in Greene County and that Greene County will not be adopting a mask ordinance.
This means, in our church family, some people live in Springfield under ordinance, while others live outside of Springfield and are not under ordinance. Some need masks, prefer masks and are more comfortable with masks; others are exempt or have concerns about wearing them.
This has become a very divisive issue in our community. We have seen people judging one another with critical spirits and a lack of grace. We have taken a different approach at Northside. Our goal is to connect as many people as possible to Christ and one another. We serve one another in love.
This Sunday, July 19 will be our first Sunday in our new Worship Center. We are working to give as many people an opportunity to worship and celebrate God with us as possible.
Here’s our plan for this Sunday, July 19:
- The 9:00 a.m. service is a mask required service. All volunteers and people attending that service (who are 12 years old or older) will be required to wear a mask. (Children ages 3-11 are encouraged to be in masks, if possible.) Please try to bring your own face covering; we will also have masks available.
- The 10:45 a.m. service is a mask encouraged service. This service is a great option for those with exemptions or concerns.
- Both services will continue to be streamed live online via Facebook and YouTube.
We will be sanitizing between services, encouraging physical distancing in our seating at each service, utilizing prepackaged communion and providing lots of hand sanitizing stations.
We are in need of volunteers to assist with temperature taking of our volunteers and with sanitizing between services. Sign up to volunteer here or text EXTRASERVE to 417-233-1200.
The following Sunday (July 26) we anticipate launching children’s and youth programs, along with several of our growth groups. You will receive an email on Monday, July 20 with those details, so we do not confuse things for this Sunday. Our intention moving forward is to continue to offer a mask required service at 9:00 a.m. and a mask encouraged service with exemptions at 10:45 a.m. as long as we can facilitate the numbers in our building.
We look forward to worshipping with you this Sunday, July 19!
