Sermon notes
Followers of Jesus were made to rest in Jesus, while we work with Jesus, so we can show Jesus to the world.
WE WERE MADE TO REST
“Yielding to sleep confesses this reality: a confession that is countercultural and revolutionary. We are not sufficient; we need a caretaker. And this must affect our bodily routines, our worship, and our view of God.” Tish Harrison Warren
“The Hebrew evening/morning sequence conditions us to the rhythms of grace. We go to sleep and God begins his work.” Eugene Peterson
WE WERE MADE TO WORK WITH JESUS
Matthew 11:28-30
Our need for rest is fulfilled in these three words from Jesus: “Come to me.”
We were made to work with Jesus. Are you working for God, or are you working with God.
J.D. Grear said it well: “The amount of our strength is equal to our rest in Christ.”
