Back to School Prayer Prompts

Monday – For the students

  • Pray for students and their transition back into the classroom.
  • Pray for excitement to be back learning, for engagement with the topics and for positive experiences, especially in the first few weeks. Pray for solid academic growth.
  • Pray for peace in the midst of any worry or anxiety, especially in students attending new schools and for those starting school for the first time.
  • Pray for health and wellness.

Tuesday – For the classroom

  • Pray for the teachers and parent educators leading in a variety of learning environments.
  • Pray for positive connections to be made between students and teachers, and amongst students in the classrooms.
  • Pray that classrooms can be safe places for students and teachers alike.

Wednesday – For the school

  • Pray for the administrators, school staff, paraprofessionals, bus drivers, counselors and more.
  • Pray for team-mindedness amongst the staff as they partner together to create safe, positive learning environments.
  • Pray that schools will be safe places for students.
  • Pray for wisdom as the school staff navigates decisions, solves problems and more in the first few weeks of learning together.
  • Pray for health and wellness.

Thursday – For the lunchroom, the playground and the gathering spaces

  • Pray for positive experiences in non-classroom spaces.
  • Pray for friendships to be built between students.
  • Pray for those students who are excited to be back with friends, for those who are nervous about making new friends, and for those who are lonely.

Friday – For the gym, the stage, the choir room and the band hall (and other extracurricular spaces)

  • Pray for the learning and life experiences that happen outside of the traditional classroom.
  • Pray for the development of life skills, like positive leadership skills, teamwork, dedication, communication and more.
  • Pray a prayer of thanks for the opportunity to foster and develop students’ skills in the arts, athletics, computers, business, agriculture and more.

Saturday – For the home

  • Pray for the families of students. Pray for wisdom for parents as they make decisions regarding their child’s education.
  • Pray for strong partnerships between families and schools.
  • Pray for families who are learning at home. 
  • Pray for single parents who are shouldering the load on their own.
  • Pray for students whose home life may be tumultuous. 

Sunday – For the community

  • Pray for strong partnerships between businesses, churches and schools.
  • Pray for opportunities for students to connect with career opportunities, to find mentors and to apply their learning in real-world situations.
