WHERE TO FIND COUPONS:
I print from CouponBug.com, but I found some other websites.  Here are a few:
coupons.smartsource.com - I liked this one, as you can see the weekly circulars and even make a list from there.
www.redplum.com - these are the coupons which come with the Sundays newspaper
couponmon.com and grocerygame.com

June 11th, 2009:
Waste Not Want Not by Dennis McCafferty in USA Weekend dated May 29-31, 2009.
Gave 5 tips for savings:
1) Cheaper, Safer, Cleaner than ever.
Make your own cleaners.  Recipes at their site, treehugger.com
2) Don't just recycle, freecycle.
Go to the website freecycle.org.  Type in where you live and what you need to get rid of.
3) Pump up your car fuel savings.
To save gas, pretend lilke you're driving with an egg undwr the pedal.  Roll down the windows, instead of using the AC.. (Must not live in Spfd, MO in the humidity.)
4) The brick trick.
Put a brick in the toilet tank to save 8% on your water usage.
5)  Power play.
Unplug each item after usage or buy a "smart" power strip and flip the power strip switch when you are through using your items.

February 26th, 2009.
Thought for the week:  There are always more uses for money, than money available. A dollar spent is a dollar gone forever.

It Takes a Dream!  We continue to talk about the importance of having a dream.  Last week, I talked about the importance of eliminating short term consumer debt.  Let's talk for a few moments this week to those of you who are homeowners about your mortgage.  Did you know that paying an extra 10% each month or making one extra payment a year can decrease a 30 year mortgage down to a 15 year mortgage?  That is because at the onset of a loan for your home, about 10% of your payment actually goes toward your debt reduction and the rest all goes to interest.  Your bank probably won't tell you this and neither did your parents.  That means that if you have a payment of $1,000 a month and increase your payment to $1,100 a month, you will have $12,000 a year extra to spend or invest as you choose for what would have been the last 15 years of your loan!  That amounts to $180,000!  Put that in your retirement account!  The only reason I can think that you would not make that kind of investement is that you have not learned the principle of delayed gratification.  You can't imagine how valuable that money might prove to be 15 years from now...but I can.  We accelerated the payments and I can't begin to tell you how much we were blessed because we did.  God gave us the freedom to use the money that would have been used to pay interest to plan for our future and give beyond the tithe.  Have more questions about how this works?  Just e-mail me and I will help in any way I can.  Next week we will talk about how to choose the right home if you are not already a homeowner.
                                                               SALMON PATTIES
1 large can salmon (drained & remove black skin)          1 egg
Saltine crackers, crushed (about 6)
Mix all together and make patties.  Fry in small amount of oil.  Makes 4 patties.  We serve with cocktail sauce.

Have a great day!  Ed and Sara Holt
